Our Services

Medication Management

Judicious use of prescription medications may be an important component of your recovery plan. The focus of our practice is medication management. As licensed nurse practitioners with DEA licenses, we have full prescriptive ability in the state of California.

The first step in determining medication needs is through a diagnostic interview. This process often involves gathering medical and past psychiatric charts. We will listen to you and work with you (and chosen loved ones) to determine if medications are a reasonable option for you. We strive to provide you with information about medications and options in ways that you can understand, and to answer any questions you may have. Alternatives to medications, including naturapathics, psychotherapeutic and interventional modalities, and no medications at all would be discussed. The end goal is that you understand your treatment choices and that you truly feel confident you are making informed decisions.

Lab work & Genetic Tests

As part of the evaluative process, we may order necessary lab work, including those necessitated by medications such as clozapine, lithium, Depakote, and certain antipsychotic agents. We are registered with the national Clozapine Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) registry. If genetic tests may be beneficial to you, we can order these too.

Professional Consultation

If you are a psychotherapist or a primary care physician based in (or with clients who live in) San Francisco or San Diego and would like to consult regarding general psychiatric matters, we are happy to speak with you at no charge. If you anticipate any disclosure of PHI, it is your responsibility to have a signed client consent. Please note that we do not provide individual psychiatric consultations without first seeing a client face to face, and any communications between us are not to be considered medical advice.

If your client has insurance that we accept (e.g. Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, Medicare, etc.), or is willing to pay out of pocket, you may also direct them to communicate with us directly, and instruct them to let us know that you referred them. Ideally, we will collaborate closely to address the issue(s) that warrant consideration of psychopharmacotherapy.
